The Airport Frankfurt-Hahn stays its successful course.
The dynamic traffic development continues with-out fail at the Airport Frankfurt-Hahn. The amount of passengers at the Hunsrueck airport has increased by another 13% during the first nine months of this year in comparison with last year's figures. Up until September 3.135.135 passengers took advantage of the service offer by the Rhineland-Palatinate airport. In the cargo segment the numbers have increased as well and an upward trend is clearly visible. The air-cargo turn-over has increased from 194.946,48 tons last year to 200.069,48 this year up to date. This defines a progression of three percent. There have also been more flight movements all in all this year then in comparison to last year during the same period of time, from 30.098 to 31.577, which constituted a growth of five percent.
August 2007 – most powerful month since the existence of the Hunsrueck airport
Most passengers have decided to take advantage of the offers by the low-cost airlines Ryanair, Wizz Air, Iceland-Express and Belavia at the Hunsrueck airport. This enabled the Airport Frankfurt-Hahn to record the strongest passenger month of all time in Au-gust. 414.091 passengers flew from Frankfurt-Hahn in just those 31 days. This repre-sents an average of 13.358 passengers per day. The passenger figures for regular scheduled flights as a whole increased by 17 percent to 3.071.416 compared to 2.624.718 during the same time frame the year before. "We can be very satisfied with the results of the first three quarters. Starting this winter and for the first time we are flying to the sunshine destinations Fuerteventura and Tenerife. These destinations are an attractive addition to the service offer we already have," says Jörg Schumacher, CEO and speaker of the Board for the Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH.
Hahn strengthens its 4th place in cargo segment
For some years now the airport Frankfurt-Hahn has been the fourth largest cargo air-port in Germany (behind Frankfurt, Cologne/Bonn, and Munich). In the meantime it is number 15 in Europe and 67 worldwide. Tantamount to this development this year was the alternative road transportion which increased by 8 percent alone in the first 9 months to 113.754,44 tons. On the other hand, the air cargo by itself had a slight deficit of about 3 %. "We are absolutely convinced that we can count on a continuing increase of cargo traffic after the entire runway is operational in the near future." says Jörg Schumacher, CEO and speaker of the Board for the Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH.
The cargo airlines Egypt Air, Aeroflot Cargo, Quantas, Air Armenia, Etihad Airways Crystal Cargo and Emirates Sky Cargo are currently offering regular freight transport services from the airport Frankfurt-Hahn.
