Frankfurt-Hahn Airport has the best cargo figures ever

The cargo business at Frankfurt-Hahn Airport is positively booming; 112,975 metric tons of cargo have been shifted in the first half of this year alone. "This is a new record", says Jörg Schumacher, Management Director (Spokesman) of Frankfurt-Hahn Airport. "Compared to last year we have improved by 69% in this segment. This is helping us to compensate for the drop in the number of passengers." At Frankfurt-Hahn the effects of Ryanair reducing its number of routes as a result of the aviation tax have made themselves felt in the decrease in passenger traffic. In the first six months of 2011 1,395,956 passengers used the airport in Rhineland-Palatinate – 13 percent less than in the previous year.

New Internet presence for Frankfurt-Hahn Airport

Hahn Airport, 11th July 2011. Frankfurt-Hahn Airport has revamped its Internet presence at www.hahn-airport.de. With the website adapted to suit Hahn's new corporate design, passenger, customer and journalist needs are now better catered for thanks to simpler and clearer navigation and the launch of a new social media newsroom.

Etihad Crystal Cargo today launched its new Boeing 777 Freighter operations from Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates to Hahn in Germany.

Cargo boom at Frankfurt-Hahn Airport

A prestigious award was again conferred on Frankfurt-Hahn Airport as a cargo airport; the international trade journal Air Cargo News declared the airport in Rhineland Palatinate to be the Best Cargo Airport of the Year 2011 in the under 300,000 tons category (relating to the amount of cargo handled per year). This decision was based on the record growth rate last year. The upturn in airfreight has resulted in new record levels at several airports around the world but none of them reached the growth rate recorded by Frankfurt-Hahn. Cargo handling increased here by 55 percent in the relevant year of 2010.

Frankfurt-Hahn wins Air Cargo Award of Excellence

Frankfurt-Hahn Airport has been elected to win the coveted Air Cargo Award of Excellence by the readers of the leading international cargo magazine Air Cargo World for the fourth time. Of all airports nominated for the award Frankfurt-Hahn won first place worldwide in its size category, followed by London Stansted and Orlando. The readers who took part in the Air Cargo World survey chiefly judged the quality of freight processing, the price/performance ratio, facilities for cargo handling and services provided by the relevant authorities. The German airport was awarded 118 points, meaning that its performance is 18% higher than the average for this sector. "We are very pleased to have received this award. I'd like to pass on this praise to the entire team who do outstanding work processing our cargo day in, day out", says Wolfgang Pollety, director of Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH.

Cargo handling on the up and up

The dynamic growth of Frankfurt Hahn Airport continues. The airport in the German federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate ended 2010 with not one but two personal records: with 5,779,096 traffic units the airport achieved its all-time best. Air freight in particular is still on the up and up; in 2010, 167,157 metric tonnes of air cargo (import and export, without transit) were handled here. In this sector Frankfurt Hahn Airport has thus experienced an increase of 55% as opposed to the previous year.
