Now the leading low-cost airport in Germany
Frankfurt-Hahn, 22 Nov 2001: Frankfurt-Hahn is to become Ryanair’s hub. “This,” according to Airport Managers Jörg Schumacher und Andreas Helfer, “is a milestone in the development of the airport. On the one hand, because we were successful in obtaining Ryanair as the top low-cost carrier per se. And on the other, since the decision is made at a time when other airlines are forced to reduce their number of flights or even discontinue flight operations altogether.”
With the Ryanair decision, Frankfurt-Hahn has thus established itself as the Germany’s leading low-cost airport and can seamlessly continue its story of success.
Schumacher and Helfer expect the number of passengers carried in 2001 to triple during the coming fiscal year. “This,” the managers explain, “proves how up-to-date the decision made by the Supervisory Board of the Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH last Friday (16 Nov 2001) is when it approved an extra 54 million marks for further expansion of the airport’s infrastructure in addition to the apron enlargement and passenger terminal expansion work already in progress.”
