Results exceed expectations
Hahn Airport, 8th January 2010. In December 2009 Frankfurt-Hahn Airport recorded a turnover in cargo of 17,868 metric tonnes – a further improvement in this sector of thirty-seven percent compared to the previous year. Hahn had already achieved its own personal record in November with 21,660 tonnes of cargo flown. The Rhineland-Palatinate airport has thus brought a year marked by economic crisis to an outstanding close.
The total volume of cargo shifted over the past year was 174,664 tonnes. Much of this positive development can be attributed to increased business with the countries of Asia. Despite the difficult market environment the company is just 2.6 percent below the result for good cargo year 2008.
Passenger development also shows little change compared to the year before last. Over the past annum around 3.8 million passengers flew out of Hahn Airport; in 2008 this figure was 3.9 million. The results exceed all expectations. "I consider last year to be a great success. Our good end-of-year business helped us to keep the effects of the economic crisis to an absolute minimum", comments Jörg Schumacher, spokesman for the executive board of Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH.
