Hahn Airport is prepared for the winter
Winter is coming and TRIWO Hahn Airport is prepared to ensure smooth flight operations even in frost and snow. An extensive fleet of vehicles and sufficient winter maintenance equipment ensure that taxiways, aprons and access roads remain safe to use even in wintry conditions and that aircraft are cleared of ice and snow to guarantee safe flight operations.
A total of 35 specialised vehicles are deployed. These include, for example, twelve powerful sweepers, four aircraft de-icers and seven tractors with clearing and gritting units. The fleet is rounded off by gritting vehicles, snow blowers and command vehicles, among other things.
"We are well prepared so that we can offer our passengers and the airlines a reliable service even in wintry conditions," says Rüdiger Franke, Managing Director of TRIWO Hahn Airport.
In order to be able to act quickly and effectively in winter weather conditions, Hahn Airport has extensive storage capacities for aircraft and surface de-icing: the storage facilities hold up to 415,000 litres for liquid de-icing agents and 110 tonnes for solids such as granulate or road salt.
