Tickets are available from 10 Euros per person. You’ll find further information on this at www.pescarajazz.com. If you prefer to do your thing further north, then the "International Stockholm Jazz Festival” is for you – it runs from the 17th until the 24th of July. Here the greats of the music world sing and dance for you - acts like Stevie Wonder, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Branford Marsalis, Van Morrison and Angie Stone perform in art gardens, music halls, museums and in the stadium of the Swedish capital. Each year greats like Chick Corea, Branford Marsalis and Candy Dulfer enthral their audiences. This year, Pat Metheny and the "Bobby McFerrin Voice Orchestra" are included among the performers. Art, festivals and much more in London, Finland and Scotland
The "Royal Academy Summer Exhibition" started in London on the 8th of June and will run until the 16th of August 2004. This exhibition, an annual event since 1768, is the world's largest contemporary art exhibition. Paintings, sculptures, sketches and architectural models created by established and new artists enrich the rooms of the main gallery of the Royal Academy. You’ll get more information at www.royalacademy.org.uk. 28 flights a week from Frankfurt-Hahn to London-Stansted are in the Ryanair timetable - mornings, evenings and nights - so you'll have no problem choosing a suitable flight.
In Finland, one particular highlight is making the rounds this summer - from the 7th until the 11th of July 2004, thousands of dancers from all over the world will be in Seinäjoki for the Finnish Tango Festival, the "Tangomarkkinat". An annual event since 1985, this small west Finnish town plays host to a mushrooming number of tango lovers and tourists. Since the festival's inception, the town has become known as the world's second tango city. You can find more information about this at www.tangomarkkinat.fi. Ryanair flies to Tampere from Frankfurt-Hahn every day at 13.40. From Tampere, you can catch an Inter-City express train that will take you to Seinäjoki in roughly 1 ½ hours.
In Glasgow, Scotland, the bagpipes are going to be heard all over the city - the "World Pipe Band Championships” will be held there from the 9th until the 15th of August. This festival reflects the most diverse worldwide traditions in bagpipe playing. International bands as well as solo artists will take part in the championships and associated events. Venice calling! From the 19th until the 20th of July 2004, the city's oldest folk festival will be held there - the Redentore Festival. Held every year in the third week of July, this festival is the Venetians’ favourite. Hundreds of boats anchor in the San Marco basin to watch the glorious fireworks display accompanied by music at midnight. Roughly 30,000 people take part in this festival - both on the water and on the shore promenade. When the firework display is over, all the boats set sail for the Lido, where, according to an ancient tradition, they wait for sunrise. Volareweb flies daily from Frankfurt-Hahn to the Venetian lagoon city. You can book your flight at www.volareweb.com.
