Low-cost meetings between take-offs and landings
Frankfurt-Hahn Airport, 6th November 2003. 1st January 2004 is the key date: For it is then that the name of the present Steigenberger Congress and Conference Centre is to change to "Congress Centre Frankfurt-Hahn Airport". As the new operator, Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH is focussing on meetings on an hourly or daily basis for international business travellers and conference delegates. Attractive daily packages will then be expanded internationally. Further information can be found at www.hahn-airport.de.
Airports as conference venues are gaining in popularity. On the one hand, they offer enormous time savings for international business travellers and conference delegates and, on the other, support the cost-consciousness of the organisers, particularly when a low-cost airport such as Frankfurt Hahn Airport is holding the reins as the operating company.
"Time and saving are virtually inseparable in today's business", says Andreas Helfer, Managing Director of Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH. "The trend towards low-cost also has become established particularly in the organisation of meetings, conferences and events", continues Helfer. Here, the airport provides an ideal platform for responding more strongly to the cost and time consciousness of business travellers.
"Our objective is to offer flexible and attractive packages for short-term meetings and conferences to our many business travellers, who currently account for approximately 20 percent of our total passengers and are increasing in number", explains Jörg Schumacher, also Managing Director of Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH. "From January 2004, attractive daily packages, which we will be promoting internationally, will be available for our guests", continues Schumacher. It will be possible to book these all-in packages from 50 euros per day for a syndicate room up to 150 euros per day for the largest room. In addition to this there will be an attractive daily rate of only 28.50 euros, which includes two conference drinks per person, coffee, tea and snacks in the morning, a three-course lunch including mineral water and hot drinks as well as coffee, tea and cakes in the afternoon.
For events over several days, the Conference Centre also organises inter-esting supporting programmes - from wine tastings to themed walks in the forest with a forestry teacher and from karting to golf taster courses in the warmer months - and all this in the immediate vicinity of Frankfurt Hahn Airport.
From the 1st January 2004, the new "Conference Centre Frankfurt Hahn Airport" will be offering numerous conference options in an area of more than 1300 square metres with a capacity for up to 100 people in a total of 13 conference rooms. Those interested can also make use of a 400 square metre auditorium for their meetings or conferences. All conference rooms have natural daylight. The technical portfolio includes everything that a conference guest needs - starting with flipcharts, overhead projector and screen right up to whiteboards. There is also an option of hiring IT rooms with a total of 12 workstations and Internet access. Individual technical requirements are also entertained.
Along with the capacity, the infrastructure also plays an important role. Work is currently progressing on the extension of the B50 trunk road to the airport and the access road to the terminals, which will shortly guarantee a faster transfer to the Conference Centre. Bus transfers from the terminal to the Conference Centre are also available. The Steigenberger Esprix Hotel Hahn Airport with 35 double rooms, which can also be used as single rooms, is situated immediately adjacent to the Conference Centre. Overnight accommodation is available from 55 euros per person including breakfast. In addition to the comprehensive range of accommodation currently available in the region around Frankfurt Hahn Airport, an airport hotel is being constructed, which is expected to come on stream in 2004.
The central location and the proximity of Frankfurt Hahn Airport to the Rhine-Main and Rhine-Ruhr areas as well as to the Saar-Lor-Lux region is a positive inducement for international business travellers and conference guests according to Andreas Helfer. The choice of currently 28 daily scheduled flights to vibrant European metropolises and the numerous charter flights to popular holiday destinations create further inducements for incentive travellers.
