Frankfurt-Hahn wins Air Cargo Award of Excellence
Frankfurt-Hahn Airport has been elected to win the coveted Air Cargo Award of Excellence by the readers of the leading international cargo magazine Air Cargo World for the fourth time. Of all airports nominated for the award Frankfurt-Hahn won first place worldwide in its size category, followed by London Stansted and Orlando. The readers who took part in the Air Cargo World survey chiefly judged the quality of freight processing, the price/performance ratio, facilities for cargo handling and services provided by the relevant authorities. The German airport was awarded 118 points, meaning that its performance is 18% higher than the average for this sector. "We are very pleased to have received this award. I'd like to pass on this praise to the entire team who do outstanding work processing our cargo day in, day out", says Wolfgang Pollety, director of Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH.
In 2010 Frankfurt-Hahn Airport handled about 229,000 tons of airfreight (own volume plus transit) and is thus the fifth-largest cargo airport in Germany. With 3.8 kilometres or ca. 2 miles of runway and an unrestricted operating permit, it meets the major requirements of the international cargo industry.
Air Cargo World is one of the leading expert publications for the aviation industry. Founded in 1942, the journal has over 16,500 subscribers in North America. The international edition of the magazine has a readership of more than 17,000 in Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. Its annual Air Cargo Excellence (ACE) Survey is recognised and respected worldwide by both airports and airlines (www.aircargoworld.com).
