"Fly Services" wraps luggage

Frankfurt Hahn Airport, January 29, 2007. For the past month, Fly Services Germany has been offering a special luggage security service at Frankfurt Hahn Airport called "Safe Bag System". Here suitcases, backpacks, baby buggies and the like are wrapped up in durable, multi-layered protective plastic film. The advantage is that this prevents scratches and damage from weather or theft, while also keeping bags from opening accidentally. The cost is only € 7.00 per piece of luggage, including insurance against loss and or damage. Six new employees were hired at Hahn to take care of this work.

The Safe Bag System stations in terminals A and B at Frankfurt Hahn Airport are al-most impossible to overlook. Luggage is being wrapped like crazy at each of these bright red, four-square-metre "Fly islands". So far, several thousand pieces of luggage, as well as a large number of baby buggies and child safety seats, have been wrapped in the special plastic film. The company has hired a total of six employees from the region just for Frankfurt Hahn Airport who do not remain at the stations, but also call attention to this unique luggage wrap in front of and throughout the terminal. This service is available to passengers every day, including Sundays and holidays, from 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

"Demand for luggage protection and luggage security is increasing in Europe," says Julie Vasudeva, Project Manager at Fly Services Germany. "A particular advantage of our service is that after the piece of luggage has been wrapped, nothing dangerous or damaging can get to it from outside. It also preserves hygiene. It lets you say good-bye and good riddance to scratches or damage from weather on the way to the airplane's belly hold." Should a piece of luggage have to be opened for security inspection after being checked in, it is simply wrapped up again afterward – free of charge. Otherwise, the price for wrapping is only € 7.00 per piece of luggage. Families with several suitcases can also enjoy discounts. Another advantage is that the price includes insurance coverage of up to € 2,500 per piece of luggage in the event of loss or damage.

Fly Services Germany, a subsidiary of the Italian baggage protection service company Fly founded in 1997 in Gallarate (Varese), started doing business in Germany in October 2005, opening its headquarters at the Stuttgart airport. Frankfurt Hahn Airport was added as its second station on December 15, 2006. This Italian company, already present at twelve Italian airports, is today the market leader in the field of luggage security and plans to expand vigorously abroad.
