„Die Zahlen und die Entwicklung im Frachtgeschäft sprechen für den Erfolg unserer Start- und Landebahnverlängerung“, so Jörg Schumacher, Sprecher der Geschäftsführung der Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH. „International bedeutende Frachtfluggesellschaften wie Emirates SkyCargo und Etihad Crystal Cargo erkannten die Vorzüge, die Frankfurt-Hahn zu bieten hat und operieren seit 2007 ab Hahn. Emirates hat sein Angebot zwischenzeitlich bereits erweitert. Egypt Air erklärte im Dezember 2007 den Hahn zu ihrem Europa-Hub und erhöhte gleichzeitig die Anzahl der Frequenzen. Unser langjähriger Kunde Aeroflot Cargo hat gerade durch seine Flottenmodernisierung die Frachtkapazitäten massiv erhöht. Wir selbst tragen dieser Entwicklung Rechnung, indem wir schnelle und effiziente Prozesse in der Flugzeugabfertigung sicherstellen, zum Beispiel durch eine Aufstocken des Personalbestandes in der Frachtabfertigung.“
The first effects of the extended runway, which was completely taken into operation in September 2007, are already perceptible. Thus, the handling of pure air cargo (without transit) rose at 31 percent to nearly 63.000 tonnes in the first half-year 2008. In 2007 more than 48.000 tonnes were counted. In total, including road feeder service, approximately 172.000 tonnes of cargo were transported via Frankfurt-Hahn airport, meaning a plus of 36 percent compared to previous year.
“The figures and the development in cargo business speak for the success of our extended runway”, says Jörg Schumacher, Management Speaker of Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH. “International renown cargo airlines, such as Emirates SkyCargo and Edithad Crystal Cargo, recognised the amenities of Frankfurt-Hahn and operate from here since 2007. Emirates extended its service in the meantime. Egypt Air announced Hahn to its European Hub in December 2007 and concurrently increased the number of frequencies. Our long-term client Aeroflot Cargo just augmented its freight capacities massively due to its fleet modernisation. We ourselves allow for this development, as we secure fast and efficient processes in the aircraft handling, e.g. through the build-up of the manpower in cargo handling.”

Gleich drei Großraum-Langstreckenflugzeuge des Typs Mc Donell Douglas MD-11F des amerikanischen Flugzeugherstellers Boeing ergänzen ab sofort die in Frankfurt-Hahn stationierten Maschinen. Eine weitere Aufstockung der Flotte ist bereits geplant. Drei zusätzliche MD-11F sind bereits bestellt und sollen im Jahr 2009 die vier bisher in Hahn stationierten DC-10-Frachter ersetzen. Damit erweitert Aeroflot Cargo seine Kapazitäten auf dem Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn deutlich. Mit 90 Tonnen Fassungsvermögen kann eine MD-11 rund ein Drittel mehr an Frachttonnage je Flug befördern als der bisher genutzte Flugzeugtyp DC10 (65 Tonnen).
Aeroflot Cargo ist die größte Frachtfluggesellschaft am Hahn. Seit der Aufnahme des Flugbetriebs im Jahr 2000 hat Aeroflot insgesamt mehr als 250 000 Tonnen Fracht hier umgeschlagen. Von 2000 bis 2007 konnte die Fluggesellschaft das jährliche Frachtaufkommen nahezu verneunfachen. Aeroflot startete am 1. April 2000 zunächst mit Charterfrachtflügen und transportierte damals nur Elektrogeräte und Autoersatzteile. In diesem ersten Jahr beförderte sie 5.745 Tonnen Fracht. Im März 2002 verlegte sie ihre Europa-Basis von Luxemburg zum Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn und stationierte dort zunächst ein Flugzeug des Typs DC-10. Bis 2003 kamen noch drei weitere dazu. Im März 2006 wurde das neue Unternehmen Aeroflot Cargo als Tochtergesellschaft und Frachtdivision der Aeroflot gegründet. Gleichzeitig unterzeichnete die Fluggesellschaft einen Vertrag mit dem US-Flugzeughersteller Boeing für die Auslieferung von sechs Mc Donell Douglas MD-11-Frachtern.
Die ersten drei dieser MD-11-Frachter mit einer Reichweite von 6 000 Kilometern sind nun auf dem Hahn stationiert und bedienen fünfmal pro Woche die Strecke Hahn-Moskau-Almaty-Hongkong und zurück. Darüber hinaus werden Frachtlinienflüge nach Moskau, Novosibirsk, Yakutsk, Tokio, Peking und Shanghai ab Hahn durchgeführt. Der Europahub in Hahn ist eine der größten Aeroflot-Cargo-Basen weltweit - neben Moskau, Novosibirsk und Khabarovsk.
Neben der Reservierung von Cargo und Passagierflügen, Auslieferung von Importfracht zu verschiedenen europäischen Städten und der Organisation von Frachtcharterflügen bietet Aeroflot vor allem den Transport von Gütern in den Fernen und Mittleren Osten, Russland und die GUS. Zu den Frachtgütern zählen vor allem technische Geräte wie Computer, Flachbildschirme oder Mobiltelefone aber auch lebende Tiere wie Eisbären, Tiger oder Lamas.
Aeroflot Cargo modernises the aircraft fleet at its European hub Frankfurt-Hahn and at the same time increases the freight capacities. Oleg Korolev, chief executive of the Russian cargo airline, presented the new aircraft at Hahn, together with the minister of transport of Rhineland-Palatinate Hendrik Hering and the airport management. It was welcomed by the airports fire brigade with a traditional aircraft baptism.
Three wide-bodied long-haul aircrafts of the type McDonell Douglas MD-11F of the American aircraft manufacturer Boeing, add to the fleet stationed at Frankfurt-Hahn from now on. A further fleet extension is already projected. Three additional MD-11F are already ordered and planned to substitute the four DC-10-freighter stationed at Hahn. For this reason Aeroflot Cargo increases its capacities at Frankfurt-Hahn airport enormously. With 90 tonnes of hold capacity, an MD-11 can transport around one-third more cargo tonnage per flight than the so far operated aircraft type DC-10 (65 tonnes).
Aeroflot Cargo is the largest cargo airline at Hahn and handled more than 250.000 tonnes since its start in 2000. From 2000 until 2007 the airline increased its yearly cargo figures nearly ninefold. Aeroflot started on 1st April 2000 first with charter flights and transported back then only electrical devices and car spare parts. In the first year 5.745 tonnes of cargo were counted. In March 2002 it shifted its European base from Luxemburg to Frankfurt-Hahn airport and initially stationed one aircraft of the type DC-10. Until 2003 three further aircrafts of the same type were added. In March 2006 the new company Aeroflot Cargo was founded as subsidiary and freight division of Aeroflot. At the same time the airline signed a contract with the US-aircraft manufacturer Boeing for the delivery of six McDonell Douglas MD-11-freighters.
The first three of these MD-11-freighters, with an operating distance of 6.000 kilometres, are now stationed at Hahn and run the routing Hahn-Moscow-Almaty-Hongkong and return five times per week. Moreover scheduled cargo flights are operated from Hahn to Moscow, Novosibirsk, Yakutsk, Tokyo, Peking and Shanghai. The European hub at Hahn is one of the largest Aeroflot Cargo bases worldwide – next to Moscow, Novosibirsk and Khabarovsk.
Next to the reservation of cargo and passenger flights, delivery of import cargo to various European cities and the organisation of freight charter flights, Aeroflot especially provides the transport of goods to the Far and Middle East, Russia and the CIS. Among the cargo goods are especially technical devices, such as computers, flat screens or mobile phones and live animals, e.g. polar bears, tigers or lamas.

Im Juni 2007 startete die Airline ihren Service mit zunächst einem Flug pro Woche ab Hahn. Bedient wird diese Strecke mit Jets vom Typ Boeing 747-400F mit einem Frachtvolumen von 115 Tonnen. Ein festes Kontingent auf allen Teilstrecken, das rund 50 Prozent ausmacht, ist an den Kunden Schenker verkauft.

Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of the international airline company Emirates in Dubai, extends its engagement in Germany and provides a further weekly freight connection from Dubai via Frankfurt-Hahn to Toledo, Ohio/USA and return.
In June 2007 the airline started its service initially with one flight per week from Hahn. This route is operated with jets of the type Boeing 747-400F and a cargo volume of 115 tonnes. A fixed allotment on all sections, which accounts for approximately 50 percent, is sold to the client Schenker.

Bereits seit 2004 bietet die Heico Aviation Group kleinere Instandhaltungsmaßnahmen an Flugzeugen - sogenannte Line Maintenance – sowie Flugzeugreinigung am Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn an. Durch ein Management Buy Out überführte das Unternehmen am 1. Mai 2008 die gesamte Betriebsstätte am Flughafen Hahn in die neue Haitec AG. Dabei handelt es sich um einen Eigentümerwechsel, bei dem das Management die Mehrheit des Kapitals von den bisherigen Eigentümern erwirbt.
„Damit werden alle Ressourcen an diesem Standort in einem Unternehmen gebündelt. Neben der Line-Maintenance werden wir in Zukunft auch Base Maintenance, also die Überholung von Verkehrsflugzeugen durchführen“, so Dieter Krah, Geschäftsführer der Heico Aviation Group und Mitbegründer der Haitec AG. „Wir bauen das Unternehmen zu einem führenden Wartungsbetrieb für Verkehrsflugzeuge aus, der Base Maintenance für verschiedene Flugzeugmuster anbieten wird.“
Haitec übernimmt die langfristigen Wartungsverträge mit der irischen Airline Ryanair, die zurzeit elf Flugzeuge des Typs Boeing 737 am Standort stationiert hat und weiterhin Wachstum signalisiert. Ein weiterer Vertrag mit einer großen Fluggesellschaft wurde kürzlich abgeschlossen. „Diese hat uns die technische Betreuung ihrer gesamten Boeing 757-Flotte übertragen und möchte Frankfurt-Hahn zur technischen Basis ausbauen“, berichtet Michael Bock, der die operativen Geschäfte der Haitec AG leitet. Inhalte des Vertrages seien im Wesentlichen die Erstellung und Pflege der Flugzeugwartungsprogramme, also das sogenannte Engineering, die Bereitstellung aller für die Wartungs- und Reparaturarbeiten notwendigen Ersatzteile und Komponenten und natürlich die technische Umsetzung inklusive aller notwendigen Checks und Wartungsarbeiten.
Auch in Gesprächen mit anderen Fluggesellschaften - insbesondere den Frachtfluggesellschaften, die Frankfurt-Hahn bereits anfliegen - habe sich der Bedarf eines Wartungsbetriebs am Standort-Hahn herauskristallisiert, betont Jörg Schumacher, Sprecher der Geschäftsführung der Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH. „Wir freuen uns, dass sich die Haitec AG, ein kompetenter Dienstleister im Bereich Wartung, Reparatur und Überholung von Flugzeugen, für den Standort Frankfurt-Hahn entschieden hat. Dies ist ein wichtiger Schritt für das weitere Wachstum unseres Flughafens“, freut sich Schumacher.

A new company for the maintenance of airplanes is being established at the Airport Frankfurt-Hahn. The newly founded Haitec AG offers maintenance work and all other connected technical services for commercial aircraft. Founding fathers and board members of the enterprise are Dieter Krah, CEO of Heico Aviation Group and Michael Bock, former Technical Director of LTU. Haitec has leased the entire existing aircraft maintenance hangar in order to implement these services and is currently starting to build the necessary organization. Haitec is planning to invest four Million Euros alone in 2008 into the Hahn location. Furthermore around 220 jobs until 2011 are projected.
In 2004 the Heico Aviation Group was already offering Line Maintenance – as well as aircraft cleaning services at the Airport Frankfurt-Hahn. On 1 May 2008 the entire plant location at the Airport Frankfurt-Hahn is transferred to the new Haitec AG through a Management Buy Out. This entails a change of ownership during which the majority of shares is bought from the owners to date. "With this, all of the resources at this location will be bundled in one single company. In the future we will offer Base Maintenance next to our Line Maintenance, meaning the overhaul of commercial aircraft" says Dieter Krah, CEO of Heico Aviation Group and co-founder of Haitec AG. "We are developing our enterprise into a leading maintenance company for commercial aircraft which will offer Base Maintenance for different aircraft types.”
The long-term maintenance contracts for the Irish airline Ryanair will also be taken over by Haitec and currently entail eleven aircraft of type Boeing 737 which are stationed at Hahn and further signal strong growth. In addition to this Haitec has already signed another contract with a major airline. Michael Bock who will be Head of Operations for Haitec AG reports that "the airline has given us the entire technical handling of its whole Boeing 757 fleet and would like to turn Frankfurt-Hahn into its technical base". Content of the contract in essence is said to be the preparation and administration of aircraft maintenance programs, the so-called Engineering; the supply of all necessary parts and components for maintenance and repair work and, of course, the technical implementation including all mandatory checks and maintenance work.
Jörg Schumacher, Speaker for the Management of Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH emphasizes the fact that in discussions with other airlines – especially the cargo airlines that already use Frankfurt-Hahn - a definite need for a maintenance company had become apparent. "We are very happy that Haitec AG, a competent service provider in the area of maintenance, repair and overhauling of aircraft has made its decision in favor of the location Frankfurt-Hahn. This is an important step for further growth of our airport" says Schumacher.

Der 40-jährige Klettenheimer zeichnete vorher mitverantwortlich für die Leitung der FCS, einer hundertprozentigen Tochtergesellschaft der Fraport AG, die nach der Ausgründung erfolgreich zu einem selbständigen Geschäftsfeld mit Perspektive entwickelt wurde. Klettenheimer arbeitete als Controller und Personalentwickler in der Luftverkehrswirtschaft und in der Automobilindustrie, bevor er am 1. Juli 2004 Geschäftsführer bei der FCS wurde. Dort war er mitverantwortlich für einen zügigen wirtschaftlichen Erfolg.
A change in the management board of Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH took place recently: Graduate business economist Uwe Klettenheimer took over the commercial management of the company on 1st June of this year and followed Stefano Wulf in this task, who changed to the management board of Fraport Cargo Services (FCS). Management Speaker of Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH remains CEO Jörg Schumacher.
40-year old Klettenheimer previously was part of the FCS-management, a 100 percent subsidiary of Fraport AG, which after its spin-off was developed successfully to an independent business unit with perspective. Klettenheimer worked as controller and personnel coach in the air transport and automobile industry, before he was named CEO of FCS on 1st July 2004. There he was jointly responsible for a fast economical success.
